What Does Your Company Need to Know?
A new bill was passed in New York State on April 12, 2018 that will have major implications for New York employers. There are a number of requirements within this bill, one of which requires New York to adopt a sexual harassment policy and training program that meets new standards. This change in policy requires proactive adjustments to current HR policies.
Here are the deadlines you need to know:
September 6, 2018
October 9, 2018
- New York State Employers: Deadline to adopt a policy that includes a complaint form and a plan for the training.
January 1, 2019
- New York State Employers: Complete training and ensure annual training is done before December 31, 2019
April 1, 2019
- New York City Employers: Employers must have one year to implement the training for all employees and must ensure all employees are trained annually thereafter.
- New Hires – training must be complete within
- 30 days – all private employers in New York State
- 90 days – all private employers with 15 or more employees in New York City
