DDK Kings vs. Outbrainers Recc-ing Balls

It’s been a long short season thus far for the DDK Kings…. so I hope you’re sitting down….the DDK Kings have a win! A real one one the books! #canttakethisoneawayfromus

But….as with all DDK Kings games, it wasn’t easy.

As the Kings and Recc-ing Balls warmed up, both teams sensed there was something missing….the Ump. After waiting 20+ minutes, and the league calling to say they weren’t able to locate him, the teams decided to forge forward and begin the game. Two innings in, the score was tied 0-0, when the Ump showed up and the game continued on (officially).

The DDK Kings started swinging fast, with base hits from Albert Parisi & Raj Katyal. John Cipollone drove in Fernando Romano, who was pinch running for Al, with a double, followed by Joe D’Auria’s base hit, driving Raj in. But the Recc-ing Balls responded fast, tying it up on the top of the 4th. Then, the magic began, with 3 runs scored in the bottom of the 6th. John hit a single, Joe D’Auria hit a single. Evan Simmons hit a single, driving John home. Mike Blum, with a twitchy elbow, hit a single driving both Joe and Evan to home and to once again take the lead 5-2.

The Recc-ing Balls came in with 3 more runs, tying it up 5-5. Tension was high and nails were bitten as DDK Kings got up to bat in the bottom of the 7th. Haren Gosar stepped up to the plate and hit a single and Raj jumped in as a pinch runner. Jenifer Rosenthal (yes, you are reading this correctly) made a sacrifice hit, sending Raj to 2nd base. Sensing the need for a win here, Al stepped up to bat and smacked a WALK OFF SINGLE into right field, and with happy feet, Raj ran home with the winning run.

Huge shoutout to our golden-gloved outfielders, Joe D’Auria, John Cipollone and Evan Simmons for their amazing catching skills throughout the game!

The Kings defeated the Recc-ing Balls 6-5. It was a great game and a great first win! Great job Team!!

On the DL:

– Ed Kotlyanskiy- pulled hamstring from 2 weeks ago

– Mike Blum- twitchy elbow

– Haren Gosar- not really sure, but kept muttering, “I’m injured, I’m injured”

– Mike Rubin- pinched nerve or Rangers game

Fans, the DDK Kings play Modells next Tuesday, May 26th at 6pm on Randells Island. Modells is currently 4-0 in the Division and rumors from the other teams are they were wiped out by them. Fan support could help! Loud, distracting cheering could help even more!
